PAS 2060 is an internationally recognised specification for carbon neutrality. It sets out the requirements for quantifying, reducing and offsetting greenhouse gas emissions for organisations and products. This means we've meticulously measured and offset our carbon footprint for room2 Southampton in accordance with the standard’s requirements, verified by BSI, for 2022. We will continue to reduce our emissions internally, in alignment with the Science-based Targets Initiative and offset residual emissions.

green tourism gold award

We achieved Gold rating by Green Tourism (the highest rating available). Green Tourism is an internationally acknowledged certification and an indicator of good environmentally-friendly practice. The process targets 15 principles across People, Planet and Places, making sure that we include all parts of our business.

it's never bin so easy

We didn’t like the look of bins in the market so we went about designing and manufacturing our own 3-in-1 recycling bins. They separate general waste, mixed recycling, and food waste in one easy place.

fuelled by renewables

room2 Southampton is Carbon Neutral. We harness solar panels on our roof, source electricity from renewable resources, and offset any remaining carbon emissions.

sun power

Solar panels on the roof power about 5% of the annual energy demand, which is enough to run the bar and lounge lighting and heating.

bug hotel

There is a bug hotel on the side of the building to promote biodiversity and give a space to nature.

refillables

We are on a mission to reduce waste, all toiletries are refillable to reduce plastic and most of our cleaning products too, you won’t find any miniature toiletries here!

less water

All of our taps have been restricted to 6L/minute to reduce our water consumption and you won’t even notice the difference. We also capture rain water to use for our many plants.

energy efficiencies

We’ve put in measures to be more efficient such as all lights being LED, censored lighting and making sure all new appliances are energy efficient.
